About Kevin Brown
Kevin Brown is the founder and primary researcher at SaveXpert. He is a dedicated personal finance researcher who studies US financial systems, official government publications, and expert sources to create clear, accessible guides for everyday Americans. Kevin is not a licensed financial advisor, CFP, CPA, or attorney.
My Story
I did not come from a finance background. I did not study economics at university or work on Wall Street. What I did was spend years trying to understand my own financial situation โ and constantly running into the same wall: the information I needed was either buried inside documents no ordinary person has time to read, written in jargon that makes simple concepts feel impossibly complicated, or locked behind expensive consultations.
I started SaveXpert because I believe that understanding your money should not require a professional certification. It should not require expensive financial consultations. And it should not require spending hours sifting through 47-page government publications just to understand something as straightforward as how tax brackets actually work.
So I became the person who reads those documents โ so you don’t have to.
How I Research
Every guide I publish starts with the official primary source. The IRS publication. The CFPB report. The SSA fact sheet. The Federal Reserve data. I read the primary document first, cross-reference it against expert commentary, and then translate it into plain language with real-world examples anyone can follow.
I do not guess. I do not publish information I cannot verify from a credible source. When something is genuinely uncertain, or when rules change frequently, I say so clearly and point you to where you can check the current official position yourself.
What I Am Not โ An Honest Disclosure
Credentials Disclosure
I am not a Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), licensed investment advisor, securities broker, or attorney. I am a researcher and educator. My expertise comes from a systematic study of official US financial publications, not formal financial credentials. The content on SaveXpert is based on publicly available information from official government sources. It is for educational purposes only. Your situation is unique โ please consult a qualified professional for advice specific to your circumstances.
My Research Philosophy
- I only write about what I can verify from primary, official sources.
- I cite every significant claim with its source so you can check it yourself.
- I update content promptly when laws, rates, or regulations change.
- I use real numbers and real scenarios โ not vague theoretical examples.
- If I find my information is wrong, I correct it immediately and note the correction.
- I write for clarity first โ if something is confusing, I rewrite it until it is not.
Primary Research Sources
My research draws exclusively from official and authoritative US sources:
- IRS.gov โ Tax rules, brackets, deductions, and filing requirements.
- CFPB โ Consumer financial protection rules, debt, credit, and loans.
- SSA.gov โ Social Security benefits, retirement, and disability.
- SEC.gov and Investor.gov โ Investment regulations and investor education.
- HUD.gov and FHA โ Housing, mortgages, and homeownership programmes.
- Federal Reserve โ Interest rates, monetary policy, and economic data.
- Bureau of Labor Statistics โ Employment, wages, and inflation data.
- Experian, FICO, and TransUnion published resources โ Credit scoring methodology.
My Commitment To You
As a dedicated personal finance researcher, I will never publish something I believe to be incorrect. I will never claim credentials I do not have. I will never recommend a product I have not independently researched. And I will always be transparent about the limitations of my knowledge and the boundaries of what this site can and cannot help you with.
Finance is a topic where bad or misleading information can genuinely harm real people. I take that responsibility seriously in every article I publish.
